How do I secure an apartment?

How long are contracts?
Contracts are for 51 weeks commencing Friday 12th September 2025.
What is included in the rent?
Everything you need: all utility bills, contents insurance, high speed WiFi and cleaning of all communal areas.
Does the rent include a TV license or Pay TV subscriptions?
No, the rent does not include a TV license or Pay TV subscriptions. For more information on TV licensing please click here
Is cleaning provided?
Yes, communal areas are cleaned every week day.
Is high speed WiFi included?
Yes, The Pump House has high speed WiFi throughout.
How far is The Pump House from University campuses?
Buses to university campuses are just 100m from The Pump House. The bus ride to Lancaster University campus is 25 minutes. The University of Cumbria campus is 25 minutes’ walk from The Pump House.
What security features are there?
The Pump House has CCTV and is accessed via key fob entry. There is also a double-entry system to student studios and an independent sprinkler system in event of fire. It is a safe, secure and peaceful environment to live in.
Is there a laundry onsite?
There is a commercial capacity washing machine and a commercial capacity tumble dryer in the communal laundry room which can be booked via a dedicated app. Clothes drying racks are provided in each studio.
How do I ask a question, report a comment
or concern?
If you have questions, comments or concerns you can talk to us at reception Monday - Friday, or log them in The Pump House app and one of the team will get back to you asap.
Is there a maintenance team?
Yes, there is a 24-hour maintenance team. If you have any maintenance issues just report them at reception or log them in The Pump House app.
Can I recycle?
Yes, waste separation bins will be provided in each studio and in the communal kitchen area.
What do I need to provide myself?
Each purpose-built studio is fully-furnished and fully-equipped. Students will need to provide their own bedding, linen, towels, and personal effects. Any appliances not listed in this literature will not be provided as standard and should be purchased privately, if required.
Where can I store my bike?
Secure bike storage is provided on site accessed via external door and has capacity for 18 bikes. Electric bikes can be charged in designated areas. They must not be charged in studios or communal areas due to fire risk.
Is car parking available?
Yes, eight car parking spaces are available on site, of which two are for disabled use.
Can two people live in a single studio apartment?
Studios are strictly for solo occupancy.
What is your policy on smoking?
The Pump House is a no smoking building. Smoking or vaping anywhere inside The Pump House will not be tolerated and could result in eviction.
